Following the success of the 8C Competizione, Alfa Romeo turned its attention to an open version. The 8C Spider was previewed at Pebble Beach in 2005 and entered production after its debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. It offered everything that made the coupé so special, with the added pleasure of hearing that V8 with the roof down.

Wolfgang Egger’s design adapts beautifully to the open format, with carbon-fibre bodywork, a power-operated fabric roof and a chassis reinforced for open-top driving. Power comes from the same Ferrari-built 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing 450 horsepower and driving through a rear-mounted six-speed gearbox. With the roof folded, the Spider delivers one of the most memorable soundtracks of any modern Italian car.

Only 329 examples of the 8C Spider were produced. This 2010 car was delivered new to Hong Kong and has covered just 51 kilometres from new. It’s finished in Bianco Madreperla, a pearlescent white that brings out every curve of the bodywork, over tan leather, and it remains in essentially delivery condition.

Importantly, the car comes with its European Certificate of Conformity (CoC). For a buyer looking to register it in Europe, this considerably simplifies the process. It’s also accompanied by its original owner’s manuals, spare key, tool kit, wind deflectors and indoor car cover.

Unused examples of the 8C Spider are exceptionally hard to find. For the collector seeking one as close as possible to the day it left the factory, this car would be very difficult to better.
