A gift from Italian dictator Benito Mussolini to his mistress, Clara Petacci, this magnificent Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 was used in the infamous couple’s escape from Italy at the end of the Second World War. Disguised as a Spanish diplomatic mission, Mussolini, Petacci and the rest of their entourage were stopped at the Swiss border by the Italian resistance —not to be seen alive ever again.

The car was confiscated and wound up in the hands of a US Army officer, who shipped it back to the United States. The car was subsequently restored and went to win trophies at the Villa d’Este and the Pebble Beach Concours.

It is an honour for Tomini Classics to present the Mussolini Alfa Romeo as the collection’s flagship and one of the most historically significant cars in the region today.
