The story of Frederique Constant starts in 1988, with Aletta Francoise Frédérique Stas-Bax and Peter Constant Stas, a Dutch married couple with horological heritage dating back to the early 1900’s. The brand acquired Alpina Watches in 2002, and started developing its own ‘Manufacture’ in-house calibers two years later. In 2016, the brand is acquired by the reputed Japanese watchmaker Citizen, and still to this day continues manufacturing in the Geneva region.
Released in 2015 during the Chinese Year of the Goat, the Frederic Constant Manufacture Zodiac was a limited edition of 888 units sold in select markets. As opposed to traditional 12-hour watches, this 24-hour watch replaces traditional roman/arabic numerals for the twelve terrestrial branches of the Ancient Chinese ordering system. The watch sports Frederic Constant’s very own in-house automatic movement, with a 42-hour power reserve and 26 jewels, ornated with Perlage & Circular Côtes de Genève.
This particular watch, number 230 out of the 888, was sold new in 2017 to its sole owner in Dubai, who is now consigning the watch with us. It comes with its original box and all original documents.
