This Superformance GT40 MK II is presented as Dan Gurney’s LeMans-winning car, including the famous “Gurney Bubble” in the roof and the “Gurney Flap”. The new rolling chassis, numbered 21, was delivered to a West Coast exotic and racecar specialist, where the mechanicals were built around a Roush 353 cu. in. engine based on a period correct 289/302 block, producing 454 hp and 418 lb/ft of torque.
A state-of-the-art electronic engine management system controls the fuel injection, which utilizes Pierce throttle bodies, maintaining the appearance of period-type Weber downdraft carburetors. The engine drives through a ZF fivespeed transaxle, and fewer than 50 miles have been covered since completion of the car.
