Honoring the heritage of the DB4GT Zagato of the 1960’s, the DB AR1 was the by-product of the summons of Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez and Andrea Zagato at the 2001 Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance. A year later after this meeting of the minds, the DB AR1 was displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, where the entire limited run of 99 units was sold.
Based on the DB7 Vantage, the DB AR1’s colossal 435bhp catapulted the lightweight body to a top speed of 185mph, making it the fastest true roadster of its time. Nonetheless, the suspension remains supple, as the thick leather interior.
Chassis 007 was delivered new and serviced at the Dallas (Texas) Aston Martin dealer, and has remained under a single custodian until we acquired the car in 2019. Showing a mere 1,000 miles on the odometer, the DB AR1 remains a future classic blending heritage, performance, and stunningly good looks.
