Built as a tribute to the Mercedes-Benz team’s dominance at the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), Germany’s most renowned domestic racing event, the CLK DTM was manufactured as a small batch of 100 coupés and 80 cabriolets between 2004 and 2007.
While based off the C209 chassis, these cars made extensive use of racing technology to turn its CLK base platform into a true Autobahn rocket. Packing 574bhp into a supercharged 5.4L V8, these Teutonic brutes were catapulted to 100kph (62mph) in 4 seconds, and to a top speed limited to 300kph (182mph). Thanks to its hand-crafted carbon-fibre body, 5G-Tronic transmission and highly tuned suspension, the CLK DTM’s colossal power numbers were complimented with confident handling, uncompromising body rigidity, and smooth power delivery. It is a Mercedes-Benz, after all.
Built as one of a handful of Fire Opal Red cars, this exceedingly rare CLK DTM Cabriolet has led a pampered existence since it was delivered new in the UAE. A European specification car, it later changed hands amongst two royal families in the Gulf before making it to our collection. With just over 15,000 kilometres from new, this desirable AMG remains one of the unicorns of the brand, as well as competent, powerful driver with surprisingly docile road manners.
