Honda had a strong Formula 1 presence in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, having provided engines for the Williams and McLaren racing teams. This gave them the opportunity to utilize the expertise of the legendary Ayrton Senna to develop a new supercar to compete against its more exotic contemporaries, especially the Ferrari 328 and 348. The result of these efforts was the Honda NSX, a car that earned countless praise for the rigidity of its chassis, agile handling, and ergonomic cockpit resembling that of an F-16 fighter jet. Even Gordon Murray, one of the UK’s most influential car designers, cited the NSX as a major inspiration for his masterpiece, the McLaren F1.
This Formula Red USA-spec example was sold new in Brookfield, Wisconsin, in mid-1990. Seven years later, at ~2,500 miles, it moved to Tucson, Arizona, where it would remain until our acquisition in 2019. Later on, in 2020, it was sold to a client of ours in Dubai, and subsequently bought back two years and 400 miles later. A spectacularly preserved example, this NSX is completely unmolested and original, as well as mechanically sound.
