Unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the 918 Spyder was designed as Porsche’s new flagship after the Carrera GT: a limited edition of 918 units, developed in Weissach and assembled in Porsche’s Zuffenhausen plant. Much unlike its predecessor, the 918 features a hybrid system that alternates internal combustion and electric power, with 599hp made by a 4.6L gasoline V8 engine, and 282 additional hp credited to two electric motors. A reinforced carbon-fibre monocoque chassis provides strength and lightness, and a special Weissach Package improved aerodynamics and further increased weight savings.
The result? A technological tour de force capable of hitting 0-to-60 in 2.2 seconds, beating all previous Nürburgring records, and accelerating to a top speed of 345kmph. Its performance credentials earned the 918 a space in the three-spot ‘Holy Trinity of Hypercars’ and the pantheon of dream machines of the 2010’s, along with the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1.
This car, number 271 out of the 918 built, was delivered new to Trier, Germany in December 2014 as a 2015 model. Two years later, in 2017, its owner moved to the UK, where he continued enjoying and servicing the car at the Porsche Group Operations Centre. The following year, the car exchanged hands and went to a well-known British entrepreneur, who kept it for four years until our acquisition. This eye-catching 918 has original paint throughout, and comes with all accessories as it would have been delivered when new.
