Comissioned by the Bridgeport Brass Company and the Copper Development Association, the Exemplar 1 was a futuristic concept car aimed to showcase the many uses of copper alloys in automotive engineering. The result was a striking, 360-horsepower automobile penned by Mario Revelli, of Carrozzeria Coggiola, based on a Buick Riviera.
This extremely rare brouchure displays all of the car’s attributes and engineering, and is, on its own, a beautiful piece of mid-century graphic design. Whether for decorative or historical purposes, this booklet on the Exemplar 1 is an unusual window into the future, as imagined in the late sixties, and somehow anticipates ground-breaking ‘wedge’ automotive designs that came at a later time.
