BMW’s fresh take on the iconic 507, powered by a 5-litre, 400-horsepower M5 engine. Pioneered at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, this hand-built aluminum car initially disappointed in sales numbers, yet it skyrocketed in price as soon as production ended in 2003. A 375hp automatic version was made by Alpina, focused on long distance comfort driving, rather than pure performance, with the model’s unequivocally retro looks. A silver example made BMW’s debut as a ‘Bond Car’ in ‘The World is Not Enough’ (1999), starring Pierce Brosnan as Agent 007. Spoiler alert: not a film to watch if you are not a fan of beautiful cars being cut in half.
This particular BMW Z8 was delivered new to Japan in the year 2000, and has covered under 15,000 kilometres from new. Under our ownership, we have restored the radio frame to its original design, and performed small cosmetics and all service required to take it up to perfect working order. A highly original example, it comes with manuals, tools, and service records.
